Highland Games 2017
I read your record on this site where you mentioned the people who visited the games at the Gow. We were the 5 guys from Holland. We had an awesome time last saturday and enjoyed watching the games.
People were very nice and asked us several times why we want to visit the games. We like traditions and we stayed the last weekend in Edinburgh, your games where the nearest to Edinburgh.
Thank you for a great day and hospitality.
See you probably in the future.
Wish Lesmahagow or better "the Gow" all the best.

Games
Can I firstly say thanks to everyone for making this years games different and exciting and letting everyone know that Lesmahagow still has an Annual Highland Games by putting it in Glebe Park. Any body that passed in there car must have been impressed enough to put it in there diary for next year.We did not get good weather and have not done for some years now!It must be taken into consideration in future years and we must get protection from the elements. That day must rank as the coldest day of the summer and people could not be expected to stay (and indeed did not)for the duration which must have reflected on income made on the day. That aside can I say well done again to all the organisers who have in my opinion put Lesmahagow back on the local map.

Firstly, many thanks for your kind comments and encouragement. The Games committee has received much positive feedback about this year's event and about our choice of venue in particular. It's probably not going to be cost effective to provide much in the way of a covered area but one we should certainly give consideration to. The problem with booking (and paying for) perhaps a large marquee in advance is that the weather may turn out to be great, then the cost would become a waste if the marquee wasn't used - it's a hard one to get right...

Please look out for details in the local press and website of our AGM - come along and add to the debate for next year...

Thanks again for your comments - much appreciated.
